But like any species introduced into a foreign environment, they can have a devastating impact on the local flora and fauna. Just ask the good folk of the Mushroom Kingdom…. The Smurfs have devastated the Mushroom Kingdom with the mushrooms having all but disappeared. Where once there were fields of mushrooms, now stands only a smurftropolis of  mushroom-husk smurf houses. As a result, Princess Peach is still in peril with her hero unable to find enough mushrooms to give him the energy, 1-Ups and the power he needs to complete his quest. And all because the blue menace - as they are now known in the Mushroom Kingdom - decided to make their home there.
